Wasting time on other blogs

November 18, 2007, Category: marketing

How much time do you spend reading other blogs about making money and how much they make? Do you enjoy it? Do you like seeing how John Chow is making a large amount of cash and you are not? Do you think that John Chow or Problogger will tell you all the secrets you need to know?

All these are good questions to ask yourself. I have been speaking with someone that has been very enlightening about what it takes to make money. To make good money with a blog it has to be used for something other than the subject of making money. I will be the first to tell you that this blog doesn’t receive what it could if it were more niche related when I started. Hosting tips and hosting help are a part of this blog but are not given the attention they need.

To be successful with a blog or a website, its obvious you need good hosting and you need good rankings in Google and you need a working knowledge of what can get you traffic. But remember, one blog or website might not get you that. A lot of the people that you think are successful are “starving” as a friend put it. What this means is you have to find what works for you with your own investigation.

Blogging Zoom is a tool I have mentioned before, and I will mention it again. Use It!! With a combination of participation and writing good content it will help you.

I agree completely regarding sites that claim to be making a ton of money and then offer to give that information away for free. Maybe I’m being pessimistic, but no one’s going to give all this info away out of the goodness of their heart. Hard work is a big part of it, and that costs.

Regarding, BZ, though – it’s definitely a great way to get traffic to your site. I’ve had more comments and posts submitted to StumbleUpon from BloggingZoom than my other sites. It’s done great things for BloggingNotes.net
