The best hosting companies
This is a general post about hosting companies. It seems that everyone has their own opinions about what hosting company is the best. Here is a few hosting tips to keep in mind when choosing your host.
Large companies usually rate higher because they have been around for a while, and also because they have affiliate programs which people use to make money when they create reviews on the company. When you choose a host a larger company can be a safe bet most of the time. Choosing a small hosting company could be bad for you especially since most of them are purchasing from one of the larger hosting companies that you could get hosting from directly.
Medium size companies can be good as they may give a bit more of personal attention than a larger hosting company. Integrity Host is a great company that this site is being hosted with and I am very satisfied with the support as well as the uptime which I have never had a problem with.
Many times when you sign up with a large hosting company things can be seamless, and other times it can be a nightmare. A lot of times the shared server you are put on can be a good one and other times it can be a bad one based on the people who are on it with you. It can also just be hardware problems. I have seen this many times being that I work for a large hosting company. On very rare occasions people have issues on a particular server which is unfortunate, but thats just the way things go.
You have no real guarantee that things will go perfect no matter what host you choose, but there are hosts that have a pretty decent track record. The hosts that seem to be at the top that you don’t hear about are hosts I regularly hear complaints about from the customers I deal with daily. Below is a a list of good hosts you should consider.

How difficult is it to switch a wordpress blog from one hosting company to another? Is it better to register the domain with the company who you will be hosting with? Thanks.

Spencer, it is quite easy to move a wordpress blog from one host to another. All that really has to be done is backing up the common wordpress files and transferring them over via ftp then doing a database dump to the new host.
If you have Cpanel that makes things pretty simple. Usually the only issue you may have is updating the Database name and the username in the config file.
I think that would be a great post in the future to show step by step. I will post something about this later on.
