This post is in consideration of the recent events surrounding pagerank drop of all the major sites out there that use advertising on their website as a means to make money, as well as all the Link directories that have suffered a hard hit under the hand of the Google fist.
People everywhere are frustrated with what has happened to their pagerank. Google just decides that those who sell text ads on their website will be penalized with lowered pagerank. Will you be affected by this? Most likely not if you are small site. What will you do? Absolutely nothing. Keep in mind that pagerank is worthless and has no value with what Google is using it for. It really doesn’t give any real value to your site like most people used to think it did.
Your game plan should be all about marketing? Social marketing is the newest key for site and blog survival. Think about it. In the end what is most important, pagerank or the amount of visitors that you get to your website or blog? Is it not the amount of people that come to your blog? This should be your main focus as it is mine. I don’t care with the next update what that number at the top of the screen really is. it has no bearing on the visitors that come to my site. With all this in mind I have made a very short list of the priorities we should all have when making a site.
I hope you enjoyed this post. There are more Tech tips, blogging tips and hosting tips on the way. Stay tuned!

I’m new to blogging. At the moment I have no PageRank and I think it is very important to start getting ranked. I am concerned though by the power that Google has over peoples lives. If you are trying to make a living from blogging as I am and if Google can cause your ranking to fluctuate as much as they like, then that is a serious problem.
Many of the blogs effected by this are very influential ones. If they were to start a movement away from Google it would help in the long-run to remove our over-dependence on this single search engine.
I understand what you are saying Sean. However, the problem is that people have put so much emphasis on pagerank for so long that it seems to be a very important factor.
Now if it is for selling links on a website, the people who buy those links only to try to help boost PR rather than for the exposure are really blowing their money. It’s all about the quantity of visitors rather than what the Google tool bar shows for rank.
People will start realizing this is not what it used to be and pagerank now has less validity than it ever had. I use to be just as thrilled with updates as everyone else when Google danced, but now I have no interest. All I care about is giving good content and getting ranked well in the Search engines.
