Getting banned from Digg

September 18, 2007, Category: internet

Digg is a really popular social network of people voting on articles they like. Or do they?

Some articles you may find with high ranking and lots of diggs may at times be other people being paid or asked to digg articles. What hapens with this is that the system can be manipulated and truly valueless information appears to be popular.

Digg has been banning people in more recent months for digging friends articles or others that may ask them as well as people digging their own articles.

Some people don’t feel that in certain cases it is fair to have their account banned, just for digging friends articles, but according to Digg the rules state as follows,

“By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree not to use the Services:

with the intention of artificially inflating or altering the ‘digg count’, blog count, comments, or any other Digg service, including by way of creating separate user accounts for the purpose of artificially altering Digg’s services; giving or receiving money or other remuneration in exchange for votes; or participating in any other organized effort that in any way artificially alters the results of Digg’s services.”

So if you have friends and you ask or are thinking about helping them out by digging their sites, or digging your own sites, you might want to think again or you might be banned.
