Do you use article directories to get links? Simple question to ask, but I bet some of you will say no. Heres why you should though. If you want to get more exposure to your website or blog the key to remember is that it needs to get linked to to be found more. If nobody links to it then the only shot someone has is finding it in Google. But if it has no links to it what are the chances it will be found in Google? Exactly!! Thats my point.

The easiest and most effective way to get links is through writing articles on article directories. Thats because people use article directories to find content to fill their own sites many times, and because article directories many times have good ranking in search engines. Ok so you want to know the best way to do this? Read this next paragraph.

There are many directories out there but some that I use are Goarticles.com, Ezinearticles.com, and articledashboard.com. So once you are ready to write your article what you will want to do is create an article that is seperate from any of the posts or content on your own site. What I mean is don’t copy and paste from whats on your own site. The reason is because Google penalizes for duplicate content, and that would defeat our whole goal of getting links incoming to our site.

So what you want to do is rewrite something that you already have on your site and link to it within the article. Most of these article directories have no problem with you putting a link within the article or withing the author area. Just don’t put more than one or two as that might be considered overdoing it to many and some people may not download your article. The best link to put within the article or about the author area would be an anchor text link. That means you would use specific key words for the link to give it weight to what it is linking to. Keep in mind that there may be restrictions on where links may go. More of this I will be discussing in another post.

So now that you have posted your article with a link to your own site within it, then you will wait for someone else to download and use it on their own site which will get you more links. This is an effective way because you are putting content on a credible site which is the article directory, and you are giving yourself exposure to those that are scouring through the article directory. Then when someone downloads your article and puts it on their site that just gives you more exposure.
