When you thought that your favorite social site like facebook was fun, think again. because scammers are using facebook as a way to accumulate information about you.

Whether you have given details about where you live, where you work or the activities you do or events, you may find that scammers are taking this information and using it against you.

How it works is someone has an automated program or may personally view profiles  and accumulate the information they need to pose as the person they have the information about.

The imposture then uses the information to send email asking for something or using the knowledge they have gained from facebook to receive other information such as credit card or bank account.  imposture may even use the information about the victims trade or type of work to contact customers and gain their personal information to.

While most people probably wont be any more careful with what information they are making public to others in the online social world, the scamming will continue and only grow worse.
