Entrecard Sucks And You Use It

Before I begin this post Jason Clark of Jasonaclark.com is the Entrecard winner of the week! He will get a free day of an entrecard ad on Blendworx.
Ok, so Vic says that Entrecard sucks, and asks me why I am still using it. Well yea Vic, I happen to like it. I know you said it sucked, but I still feel like it has some value. I think Vic is wrong but I also think he is right on this one. It all depends on what you use Entrecard for. If you do use it for driving traffic, it can be of value, but you can’t think like the herd as Vic says. Also, if you think you will actually make something off Entrecard when it comes to ads, I don’t think you will.
Here is what my plans are with Entrecard. I plan on having very selective ads, and have them twice a week, very shortly after the cost of my Entrecard ads goes up. However, I will also drop cards like crazy and request to put them on other sites. If they accept this, then it is free advertising. If you have some type of ad, whether its Entrecard or not, it still promotes your blog.
So, if you are planning on putting lots of ads on your blog as everyone is doing, then you are stupid, but if you plan on using it to get ads on everyone else’s blog then it can be of value. I don’t know how long Entrecard will last, but as long as it is around I will be using it to promote my blog. So to answer Vic, don’t worry man, I am not using it to follow the herd and do the Chow thing. I am using it to get exposure, and will discontinue showing ads, except the winner of the week.

Hmmmm, my ad is on your site right now.
I’m not opposed to using it for as long as it causes traffic to fly by. With any luck they’ll be sporting Alexa toolbars and build up my numbers. But, I expect EntreCard to hit some bumps at some point and people will start dropping it.

Well Frank, I know it may seem like I am being selfish here, but if I am not getting paid for an ad, or if someone is not winning a contest I put up for Entrecard each week, then I don’t want ads running nonstop the whole week around. Thats why as I mentioned, as my rating hits the right level, then I am going to discontinue the rotated ads I have put up, and only select 2 ads per week. One that has paid with entre points, and the other which is a free give away. Thats just the way its going to be.

I’m on your side, amigo.
Entrecard is not about “quality traffic” – it’s about knowing how to squeeze the greatest benefit per effort possible.
In my link above, you’ll find the Entrecard-related articles I wrote. And I share my tips about it freely because I know most people are like Justin and do only what makes perfect sense to them.
He concluded without any effort to further inquiry and just assumed his conclusions were correct.
As a marketer, I know that people make purchases based on EMOTION. For whatever reason, bunches of people are feeling a bizarre fascination with Entrecard so, for the time being, I’m willing to help them understand how to maximize their efforts and maybe build some goodwill relationships in the process.
Bet wishes,
Sam

Hmmm. That is kinda a pain and a little 2 faced. You are going to try and advertise like crazy on none related blogs, but you are going to be picky about who advertises on yours? Maybe I just will not accept any advertisements that you try to place on my blog.

Sam, thanks for the comment buddy, but I wouldnt say, “He concluded without any effort to further inquiry and just assumed his conclusions were correct”. As a matter of fact I just didn’t conclude without looking into it.
While your points, which I read over by the way, make some good sense. I do see what you are saying about getting new people used to the fact that you are dropping them a card regularly, but while the unseen branding is important, people are visual on the internet. The more they see my ad, the more they remember my site. When people see you ad more, they connect that many times with having more authority automatically even if your site really doesn’t.
While I do drop cards on noobs like you are saying, it is just as equally important to get my ads on as many sites as possible. So I would have to say I agree with you and disagree with you.
The methods are good, totally agreed. But when you say I conclude with no effort, that really is you assuming based on a short post I have written.

Mouseclone, Its all up to you. Thats your choice, and sure, the fact that I tell you what I am doing with this may make me look evil, but I am going to be giving free advertising each week, and I am also going to choose certain advertisers 1 by 1, as well as giving away Entrecard credits. This is just the way I have chosen to do this. You can hate me for it, but either way, I have decided to not run the ads non stop 7 days a week.

I originally thought that I would only use Entrecard for a couple weeks and I’d get sick of it. Though, the true value that I have gotten out of it is the other bloggers that I’ve met. For some reason I have met more bloggers and have received more link backs and posts about my site through Entrecard than MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog combined.

I won! I won! You like me! You really like me!
LOL…Vic makes me laugh…
I’m getting visitors from Entrecard but they aren’t exactly the kind of quality traffic I’ve gotten from BloggingZoom.

Sly Bald Guy – Yes I would agree with you that I too have met some really cool people from Entrecard. And no doubt this can be a way to socialize and get new friends to visit your blog. Everyone has different reasons for having certain types of traffic. I think that Entrecard has some value. It all just depends on how you look at it.
Jason Clark – I just sent you 35 credits. You can use them to advertise here or elsewhere. Thanks for dropping so regularly.

EntreCard is growing quickly but I’m worried it will burn itself out unless Graham manages to monetize the traffic for bloggers. Its biggest hurdle is that the traffic generated is other bloggers trying to drop cards. This is the modern form of spamming.
In the sense that it generates traffic EntreCard works, no doubt there (at least initially). As far as being of value in terms of users and bloggers alike, I’m very skeptical.
Personally I’m a bigger fan of content linking. It brings better users increasing CTR as well as traffic. Remember 1% increase in CTR is worth hundreds of users. Link your blog with similar pages (the core of Arkayne) and you’ll get better page rank and CTR.
