Better managing internet usage

October 11, 2007, Category: internet

One of the questions I asked Courtney Tuttle in my previous interview was about computer time. How He managed his time on the computer with family and friends. Because his internet marketing provides him the ability to work from home as a job he can easily choose the amount of hours he spends each day online.

Now This post is directed to each of you out there who spend time online each day blogging, commenting or looking for fresh content to read. How much time do you spend online? Do you ever find you don’t get other things accomplished because of it? If so, it might be a good idea to start managing your time a little better. I have made a simple yet practical list of tips below to help.

(1.) Set a specified time to get on the computer and get off the computer each day.

(2.) If it helps set an alarm to tell you when it’s time to stop.

(3.) Set a specific task(s) for that particular internet session and don’t go beyond that.

(4.) Tell your friend or spouse to remind you of what you already agreed about the time you will spend.

(5.) Do not surf to other websites if you have a particular project you are working on to accomplish.

While the above mentioned may not seem new or profound, they really can help if you discipline yourself to do them. It will make the time you do spend on a computer more enjoyable and it will help you to feel more accomplished overall in life. So how much time do you spend in front of your PC? Why don’t you post a comment about it.

Yes people certainly find new and novel ways of wasting their time every day. The amount of time the average person spends surfing over the same sites and useless information would be quite high

I agree with you Steve. Thats why a lot of times its just better to know what you are on the internet for so you have a reason and then once thats fulfilled, to use time where it really counts with friends and family.
