51 tips for bloggers to be successful

This post will cover in short 51 different tips for bloggers in no exact order. Many of these are common sense and others will help you boost a little traffic to your blog and give you a starting point. I am sure there will be something useful you will find if you already have been blogging or are just starting out. - Get your own domain name.
- Do your research to find a good hosting company.
- Find a good wordpress template you like thats easy on your readers eyes.
- Put an RSS feed button on your blog.
- put a site map on your blog.
- Sign up for social sites like Mybloglog.
- Create your own custom banner or logo or have a friend make one for you.
- Email your friends about your blog.
- Put some adsense on your blog.
- Use Technorati Tags on your blog.
- Get your blog Stumbled by friends.
- Write articles for others to get a link back.
- Stick to a type of theme or cover certain subjects.
- Read forums like Digitalpoint and SEOchat to get tips on optimizing.
- Have a recent posts column on your blog.
- Sign up with feedburner and add a email feed form to your blog.
- Comment on other blogs.
- Write articles and submit them to article directories with a link to your blog.
- Add a good about me page to your blog.
- Use images on your posts.
- Use links in your posts to other posts.
- Use the nofollow on unimportant outbound links.
- Get a good tracking software like Google analytics to see who comes to your blog.
- Ask others questions on improving your blog.
- Use Akismet plugin to filter out spam.
- Use widgets like blogrush to help grow traffic.
- Write and publish regularly.
- Publish your posts at a time of day when people are most likely to read them.
- Build your own traffic. Don’t pay others to do it for you. It could hurt rather than help.
- Google is cracking down on selling links. Try to avoid buying links from Sites that sell them for others.
- Pagerank is not that important. Don’t be obsessed with it. It will come naturally.
- Search Engine optimization is important. In a natural way use key words in your blog that you want to rank higher for in Google and Yahoo.
- Write reviews on other blogs. They will link back many times.
- Use well thought out titles that are catchy.
- Create a blogroll and add friends to it. Ask them if they would like to add you.
- Link out to quality sites. Do not link to spammy sites or scraper websites.
- Create polls to your blog to encourage participation.
- Put a picture of yourself on your blog to help people identify with what they are reading and who it is from.
- Proofread your blog. Sometimes you will have minor errors. try your best to use correct grammar and punctuation.
- Don’t expect people to come to your blog out of nowhere. They won’t most of the time.
- Spend and equal amount of time promoting and marketing your blog as you do writing it.
- Do backups of your blog database(if you are using wordpress or another DB driven blog software) in case something happens so that you don’t lose it.
- Aim at being a top commenter on other blogs to get more attention to your blog.
- Never spam other blogs with links to your own.
- Use bold type in your blog to make keywords stand out.
- If you have a hard time finding something to write about or are pressed for time find a useful video and embed it in your post and talk about it.
- Keep quality as a key importance in your mind.
- Ask friends and family if they would like to do a guest post on a certain topic they are knowledgeable about.
- Use wordpress.org to search for helpful answers to possible wordpress issues you may be having.
- Search for the most valuable plugins out there to get an edge and save you time.
