5 tips to get more feed subscribers
Changes to a blog or website can be good especially when its for the betterment of your readers. Recently I have been making some changes here and there to my blog. The location of the feed link was moved for better visibility as well as adding some page links where the old rss feed icon was. With that in mind I have put together some tips to get more people to subscribe to your feed.
(1.) A lot of people don’t know what a feed is. Create a link next to your feed icon to a page or a post on your blog that explains what a feed is.
(2.) Put your feed icon in a visible location so people can find it. Often times it may not be large enough or visible to attract your visitors.
(3.) Add an email subscription function for your readers to use so they can get feeds in their email. Many people are just comfortable with email and may choose to read your feed through this method rather than a feed reader.
(4.) Give a reminder to your readers about your feed by either adding a text link reminding them to subscribe or a banner as I have added recently under my posts. That way whenever someone reads a full post and they enjoy what they have read then they have a reason to subscribe right away.
(5.) Last but not least, it is good to remind your readers of upcoming articles that they won’t want to miss which will also motivate them to subscribe so they can keep up with everything you have written. The key with this is to wet the appetite of the reader so they look forward to checking back whether it be for a prize giveaway or for some special news.
The bottom line with RSS feeds is that you need to promote them as well. Not just putting them on your blog and hoping everyone who stops by will use it and subscribe. This is because not everyone uses an RSS feed. If you make them aware however this will cause people to make the move to test it out thus helping keep your readers up to date and informed whether they visit your site or not.
